RAWHIDE AT WILD HORSE PASS CELEBRATES ITS GRAND OPENING ON SATURDAY, MARCH 25 WITH TRUE WEST FESTIVITIES

Day features non-stop, live entertainment, blessing ceremony, fireworks, kids games & more!

CHANDLER, Ariz. (March 8, 2006) – The new Rawhide at Wild Horse Pass is celebrating its grand opening from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 complete with continuous live entertainment on the Main Street stage, a special Grand Opening Ceremony from 3 - 4 p.m., fireworks at 9:30 p.m., prize giveaways, kids games and much more.

Guests who attend Rawhide's huge celebration are sure to enjoy non-stop, live entertainment on the Main Street Stage from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. as the town is featuring acts including Ballet Folklorico, a bluegrass band, Rawhide's Street Band, traditional performances by the Bird Singing and Dancing Group as well as Hashan-Kehk Traditional Basket Dancers, a magic show and line dancing to name a few.

To commemorate this special occasion, at 3 p.m. Rawhide will welcome Gila River Indian Community Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Allison-Ray as well as distinguished members of the Wild Horse Pass Development Authority Board for a Grand Opening Ceremony on the Main Street Stage.

From 1 – 3 p.m., the younger buckaroos can take part in a variety of cowboy games in the Rawhide Livery including mutton busting/sheep riding, a goat ribbon pull, a goat leading course, and a dress kids for bed contest.

Prize giveaways throughout the celebration include one year of free ice cream from Shamrock Farms, dinners at the Rawhide Steakhouse, and stays at Valley Starwood Resort properties. Adding to the excitement is the Grand Prize Getaway Escape for Two featuring a two night stay at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa, dinner at the award-winning Kai restaurant, dinner in the Rawhide Steakhouse, spa treatments at the Aji Spa, two rounds of golf at Whirlwind Golf Club, and a horseback ride at Koli Equestrian Center.

Of course there will also be animals from the Pettin' Ranch on Main Street including miniature horses and llamas as well as FREE face painting, a pie eating contest, a photo opportunity on Rawhide's famous red carriage in front of Mission Patio and plenty fun foods for purchase throughout the town.

And for the big buckaroos, there will be Cowboy Karaoke in the Rawhide Saloon beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday and 9 p.m. on Saturday.

The Grand Opening Celebration marks the completion of numerous projects for Rawhide. “We have been busy since opening the town in December,” says Rawhide Interim General Manager Steve Feld, “we have already welcomed a variety of large events and crowds to the park and look forward to this Grand Opening Celebration.”

Rawhide has become part of the portfolio of exceptional businesses at Wild Horse Pass, a 2,400-acre development which is part of the Gila River Indian Community.
